Adoption and Foster Care Resources
LCMS Life Ministry provides written materials, videos and podcasts on these topics.
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” (Gal. 4:4–5). God has adopted His followers as sons, and now Christians share His mercy with children in need through foster care and adoption.
Over the last few years, LCMS Life Ministry has been expanding its resources on adoption and foster care by adding written materials, videos and podcasts. There are several “Friends for Life” podcast episodes that discuss adoption stories, and Life Ministry released a Bible study to accompany “Lifemark,” a 2022 film about the true story of a young man who meets his birth mother years after he was given up for adoption.
In addition, Life Ministry sponsored a conference on Lutheran adoption with LCMS Recognized Service Organizations (RSOs) Lutherans For Life and Lutheran Family Service in early 2024 and continues to collaborate with districts and other RSOs to develop more helpful resources.
